Derrygonnelly Harps 0-10 Roslea Shamrocks 1-03
Derrygonnelly completed a remarkable five in a row of Fermanagh Senior Football Championship titles with a hard-earned final victory over a stubborn Roslea Shamrocks side in a final played in front of 2,327 attendance Brewster Park.
Coming into the game Roslea were aiming for a first County title since 2014, while for Derrygonnelly it was an unprecedented fifth decider on the bounce.
And with their greater experience that refused to panic after they were hit with an early goal, working their way back in front to lead at half-time.
The first half, played on a wet Enniskillen afternoon, was pretty even throughout but a Niall Cosgrove goal on 21 minutes really lit up the Roslea side.
Derrygonnelly would finish much the stronger and led at the break 0-06 to 1-01 with first half points coming from Garvan Jones (3), Conall Jones (2) and Garvan McGinley.
Roslea could not have asked for a better start to the second half with two early scores inside the opening three minutes from Brendan Sherlock and John Connolly as Roslea levelled matters, 0-06 to 1-03.
Roslea though would not score for the remainder of the game as the winners slowly but surely started to take a stranglehold of the game around the middle.
Shane McGullion would point from a Roslea mistake, while 44 year old Kevin Cassidy showed his class with a stunning point as Derrygonnelly led by two with ten to play.
A Jones free stretched the lead by three and deep into injury time it was Aidan McKenna on hand to point to make it a four point game.
For Derrygonnelly it's now a trip into the Ulster club series again with an away clash to the Antrim champions, for Roslea it’s a matter of what might have been.
