Séamus McEnaney has been named as the new Monaghan senior football manager.

McEnaney takes over from Malachy O'Rourke, who stepped down after seven years in charge following defeat to Armagh in the qualifiers in June.

The former Meath and Wexford boss was previously in charge of the Farney County from 2004 to 2010.

"It is an honour and a privilege to get the opportunity to manage this group of Monaghan players," McEnaney told the official Monaghan GAA website.

"The management team and I are relishing the challenge of building on the previous great work of Malachy O'Rourke and ensure that Monaghan continues to compete at the highest level."

Monaghan are currently in Division 1 of the Allianz League.
