Sligo GAA have issued a statement distancing itself from 'offensive content' being circulated on social media under a heading related to a club game in the county.
The county board took the unusual step of issuing a statement via their official website distancing itself from the content.
It read: "Sligo GAA became aware on Sunday that an official GAA account was accessed illegally and indecent content was uploaded.
"Croke Park and the solution provider were informed immediately and the content deleted and removed from circulation.
"However it has come to our attention now that a screenshot is being shared, under a heading that it is related to a match played at the weekend.
"This has nothing to do with the clubs mentioned in the content or Sligo GAA. This is not from our GAA platforms."
Sligo GAA then went on to stress the GAA’s clear social media guidelines and provide a link to the relevant area of the official GAA website.
