Cork hurler Patrick Horgan and Donegal footballer Michael Murphy have been named PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month award winners for July.

The individual awards will come as some consolation to the two players as both will see no more action in the 2019 championship.

Horgan struck 3-10 in a sensational display against Kilkenny in the All-Ireland quarter-final but Cork fell badly short, slumping to a six-point defeat.

Murphy, meanwhile, shone in Donegal's ultimately doomed Super 8s campaign, scoring 1-07 against Kerry in the Croke Park encounter.

The Ulster champions, however, were shunted out of the championship in MacHale Park at the weekend.
