Cork’s Seamus Harnedy and Kilkenny’s Conor Delaney have both had their appeals upheld by the GAA's Central Appeals Committee and are now free to play in their respective Championship openers against Tipperary and Dublin respectively.

Harnedy was dismissed in the Rebel County’s last regulation Allianz Hurling League tie against Tipperary.

Delaney was red carded at the end of the Cats’ final Division 1A game against Wexford on 10 March.

Both players sat out the relegation play-off between the counties and it has now been ruled that that match qualifies as their one-game suspension despite GAA rules stating that promotion/relegation play-offs do not count.

The counties are believed to have successfully argued that as there was no demotion or promotion at stake (due to the 2020 reorganisation of Division 1) that the game was effectively not a relegation play-off.
