There was drama in today’s All-Ireland Freshers Hurling Final as Limerick rivals UL and LIT arrived at different venues for the decider.
Referee Cathal McAllister, his team of officials and LIT took to the field at their home ground in Moylish, but 15 minutes after the 4.30pm throw-in, left the field of play.
Across the city, UL took to the field in the sportsgrounds in Mary Immaculate College after taking issue with a late venue change for the final.
A CCC meeting on Monday night deemed Mary Immaculate College unsuitable to host the fixture and LIT won the toss for home advantage.
UL, LIT and Croke Park had agreed to play the fresher 1 final in MICL. The venue was changed by CCC with no basis for the change. UL will be honoring the agreed fixture and will be in Mary I today for 4:30pm

UL insisted there was "no basis" for the decision and arrived at the original venue.
Referee McAllister will submit his report to the CCC in Croke Park to determine the next step.
