Two late points from wing forward Ryan Lyons gave Fermanagh two precious points in a tempestuous affair against promotion favourites Kildare in Brewster Park.
Lyons struck in the 65th and 73rd minutes to give the home side a deserved victory.
But the winners also hit 11 wides and would surely have been kicking themselves had they lost.
The hosts were by far the better team in the opening half but their misfiring forward line cost them dearly once again as they hit seven wides to Kildare’s three.
They combined mass defence with swift counter-attack against an off-colour Kildare side who could only manage one point from play.
And the Lilywhites were quite happy to go in at half-time just two points adrift as a wasteful Fermanagh led by 0-5 to 0-3 and there were no more scores from the 22nd minute.
Neil Flynn got his side’s first score in 30 minutes from a pointed free in the 37th minute to leave just a point between them and Quigley though stretched the lead again, this was cancelled by a Flynn free as the home side led by 0-6 to 0-5.
Fergal Conway levelled matters before Fermanagh spurned a great chance of a goal when 19-year-old Ultan Kelm found himself one on one with Kildare keeper Mark Donnellan. The youngster hesitated and Donnellan made a brilliant block in the 53rd minute.
Lyons knocked over two scores to give Fermanagh a bit of breathing space in the closing stages and that's how it stayed. Not perfect, but a welcome win for Rory Gallagher's men.
