Next Sunday's Munster SHL final will see Clare take on Tipperary after the Banner withstood a late comeback from Waterford at Fraher Field - while Dublin advanced in the Walsh Cup.

Clare began the game with real intent and led by 0-11 to 0-02 after the opening quarter.

A Tony Kelly goal had Clare 12 points clear after 26 minutes. It was Stephen Bennett who kept the Déise in touch, as he accounted for his side's first-half total of 1-05 to leave them trailing by nine at the break.

Bennett was again instrumental on the resumption to keep the home side in touch and, along with introduction of Kevin Moran, Waterford would trail by four as the game approached the 60th minute.

However, Clare responded with a green flag from Colin Guilfoyle to push them seven clear. Late goals from Stephen Bennett and Tommy Ryan would leave the bare minimum between the teams when the final whistle sounded.

Dublin are through to the semi-finals of the Walsh Cup after a 1-18 to 1-16 win over Laois at O'Moore Park.

John Hetherton, with seven points, top scored for the Dubs. A goal in the fourth minute from Eamonn Dillon set them on their way, but Laois responded well and a green flag from Aaron Dunphy had them in front just before the break.

A couple of late points from John Hetherton saw parity at the break - 1-08 each.

The second half was nip and tuck, but late points from Hetherton, Fergal Whitely and Oisin O'Rourke eventually saw Mattie Kenny's side advance to a home date with Galway on Sunday next.

In today's other game, Carlow defeated Offaly 2-18 to 0-18 at Netwatch Dr Cullen Park. Chris Nolan and Martin Kavanagh got the all important goals for the victors.
