All-Ireland winning captain Sinéad Aherne is among the nominees for the 2018 TG4 Players’ Player of the year, as All-Ireland finalists Dublin and Cork complete the shortlist for the award.

Dublin forward Lyndsey Davey and Cork captain Ciara O'Sullivan have also been nominated for the gong, after Mick Bohan's charges defended their All-Ireland crown for the first time in their history earlier this year.

Aherne scored 1-07 as Dublin finally defeated Cork in an All-Ireland final, while Davey's workrate throughout the tie was equally influential as she came back from the forward line on many occasions to help out the defence.

This is the third successive year that Aherne has been nominated for the Players’ Player of the Year award, while fellow attacker Davey was previously shortlisted in 2015.

The Dublin pair will be joined by O'Sullivan, who was among Cork's top performers on All-Ireland final day in front of a record attendance of 50,141.

The Mourneabbey star is currently preparing for and All-Ireland Senior Club semi-final against Galway and Connacht champions Kilkerrin-Clonberne.

All three of the candidates in the shortlist for Players’ Player of the Year have also been nominated for All-Stars, and the winners will be revealed at the 2018 TG4 All-Star Awards Banquet at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday, 1 December.
