Cora Staunton says common sense has prevailed in allowing Carnacon back into the Mayo championship, but says it is too early to say if the exiled inter-county players will return.
The Connacht Council overturned the club’s expulsion from the Mayo Championship after the All-Ireland Ladies club champions were banned following the departure of eight of their players from the Mayo panel.
The club were charged at a County Board meeting with "conduct calculated to bring the Association into disrepute" but that has now been dismissed by the provincial council.
Four players from other clubs, as well as two members of management, who left the panel escaped censure.
Staunton told RTÉ Sport everyone concerned with Carnacon is delighted with their reinstatement.
"The last two weeks in our club have been quite difficult. It was a huge shock," she said. "We are absolutely delighted. Common sense has prevailed really.
The decorated Mayo star said it was a huge boost in particular for the younger players on the team who "don’t know what goes on" but simply want to play football.
"We are glad we can get back out on the pitch and hopefully retain our Mayo, Connacht and All-Ireland titles."
Could it mean a return to Peter Leahy’s Mayo panel after the departure of a glut of player citing "player welfare issues"?
"It’s too early. It’s not just about Caranacon. There are 12 girls and two members of the management that left the panel. Fourteen people all left for the same reason.
"I can’t talk for them, I can only talk for myself.
"Of course I’d love to see them in a Mayo jersey some day again."
In a statement on their Facebook page today, Carnacon said they were delighted to be back in the Mayo Championship after what they felt was a "heavy-handed" approach.
"We are satisfied with this outcome and feel it reflects the impulsive, heavy-handed approach initially taken by the Mayo Ladies County Board.
"Without a full examination of the events available for club delegates, it has been proven incorrect to make any such ruling on the situation."
