Davy Fitzgerald has committed to the Wexford hurlers for the 2019 season.

The Clareman took the reins two years ago and had an instant impact in the Model County, winning promotion to the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A in his maiden campaign and making the Leinster final after a famous defeat of Kilkenny.

Wexford maintained their top-flight that status in the spring but were beaten by the Banner in the All-Ireland quarter-finals last month.

Although he had agreed to a three-year term when he was first appointed, Fitzgerald - based in Sixmilebridge - took time out to consider the position, both last year and this summer, as the strains of a hefty commute took its toll.

Now, he has confirmed he'll go again in 2019 with the county board confirming the news on Tuesday morning.
