Galway's influential centre-back Gearóid McInerney looks set to return to the starting XV for Sunday's All-Ireland hurling final against Limerick.

McInerney missed the semi-final replay win over Clare after picking up a calf injury in the drawn game but the Irish Independent are reporting that the 27-year-old has responded well to treatment and is on course for the Croke Park decider.

The Oramnore-Maree clubman returned to light jogging last week ahead of a more active training session alongside his colleagues at the weekend.
