Former All-Ireland winner Richie Bennis hopes that Limerick will be able to keep a lid on the hype ahead of the All-Ireland hurling final on 19 August.
The Limerick man is also a former manager of the Treaty County. He was at the helm in 2007 when they reached the All-Ireland final.
"I don’t know how are you going to avoid the hype," Bennis told RTÉ Sport.
"It’s going to be there whether we like it or not. I hope they don’t start writing songs or poetry or anything about the bloody thing. I don’t think they will though. We have been too long waiting and I think people have learned their lessons."
Kilkenny provided the opposition 11 years ago when Limerick reached the final with Bennis in charge.
Eddie Brennan and Henry Shefflin scored two early goals and while Limerick battled hard, they couldn’t claw back the lead and Brian Cody’s men earned a seven-point victory.
Bennis believes that the stature of the occasion affected his side that day but thinks this current side are better equipped to deal with the big stage and crowds on All-Ireland final day.
"Yesterday would have been a big help to Limerick, the atmosphere was unreal. It would be like a rehearsal for the atmosphere for the All-Ireland final and that would stand to them big time going into the final.
"From my experience of managing the team in 2007, when we go out in the field that day the roar was unreal I don’t think the players, myself and even the rest of the mentors were prepared for such a reception and it showed in the first ten minutes.
"Kilkenny had the match won in the first ten minutes and when we settled then we outscored them. They have overcome that now with yesterday’s rehearsal."
Limerick defeated Cork in impressive fashion yesterday, coming from six points down in the second-half to record a 3-32 to 2-31 victory in extra-time.
"It’s a trademark of this team, they never seem to give up I was above in Galway when they played them in the League they were nine points down at half time and we were there saying it’s limerick again and by god they came back and beat Galway and they did the same against Kilkenny and yesterday again they have shown great character.
"This team has no baggage or anything they are their own team whereas other teams were after winning three All-Ireland under 21 All-Irelands in a row, expectations were very high this team are more level headed and their feet are very much on the ground."
