Limerick corner forward Aaron Gillane said his team kept believing even when they trailed by six points with less than ten minutes of normal time remaining in Sunday's All-Ireland SHC semi-final.
Gillane scored thirteen points, six of which came from play as Limerick triumphed over Cork after extra-time to reach a first All-Ireland final in eleven years.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport afterwards, Gillane said he and his teammates had no stomach for the sorry stories that have characterised previous Limerick championship campaigns.
"Two weeks ago against Kilkenny when they got the goal, people completely said 'this is the same old Limerick now, they're gone'.
"But no, we always kept believing. We stuck to what we know and came out on top.
"We just want to do well. We've had a few sorry stories the last few years and there comes a time when you get sick of it. So we just want to kick on now."
Gillane hobbled off in extra-time but was chirpily confident it would be no impediment to his preparation for the All-Ireland final in three weeks time.
"Ah it's alright. It happened me a few times so I'm used to it. I'll do the rehab over the next few days and it'll be grand. There'll be no fear of me."
