Dublin U-20 football star James Madden is believed to be close to a switch to Australian Rules.

AFL.com reports that the Ballyboden St Endas man is set to follow in the footsteps of late clubmate Jim Stynes, who won a Bronlow Medal (Player of the Year) with Melbourne, but is likely to join Brisbane Lions.

The club are reported to have met with Madden and his family in Dublin and presented a rookie contract offer.

Fellow GAA recruits Pearce Hanley, Colm Begley and Niall McKeever  all played for the Queensland outfit.

6'1 centre-forward Madden scored a goal in his previous outing for Dublin U-20s against Westmeath last week and is expected to line out against Wexford tomorrow.
