Robbie O'Flynn has suspected concussion, says Cork boss John Meyler

Cork forward Robbie O'Flynn has been taken to hospital with a suspected concussion, according to manager John Meyler.

The Rebels edged a dramatic Munster SHC encounter with Clare, but their victory included an 11-minute stoppage for O'Flynn, who was stretchered off following a nasty collision with Clare's with David McInerney and his team-mate Patrick Horgan in a tussle for possession.

O'Flynn came off in a neck brace which was taken as a precautionary measure, and RTÉ's Joanne Cantwell reported shortly after that O'Flynn was conscious as he was brought to hospital.

Speaking to Cantwell after the game, Meyler provided an injury update on the Erin's Own man and suspected that it might be a concussion.

"It's a bang to the head," he said, "probably concussed but the medical staff are very good and he's gone to the Regional for a CAT scan or whatever. We send him best wishes."

Meyler also praised his team for how they responded to the long stoppage in play to go on and clinch the win.

"We recovered, there was 11 minutes of a wait. We recovered really well and drove on from it. Lehane's goal really gave us the impetus but then Clare came back to get a goal and two points to level it. But then we went up the pitch, showed character and that's really what we're looking for.

"It was good, it's a win. Tipperary next Sunday and we just have to focus on that after this game and get on with it. A lot of tired bodies in there, unfortunately Robbie is gone to the hospital.

"We need to assess the players, assess their recoveries tonight and tomorrow."
