Leitrim manager Brendan Guckian was relieved after watching his side record a dramatic one point win over New York after extra-time in Gaelic Park.
New York started the Connacht Football Championship game so well, with an early Shane Hogan goal putting them six points at one stage in the first half.
But the teams finished level after 70 minutes.
The home side kicked on during extra-time and led by three points with six minutes to go. but Leitrim fought back and Noel Plunkett kicked the winner a minute into injury time.
History had beckoned for New York, but not to be on this occasion, down to an extraordinary comeback by Leitrim.
They go on to meet Roscommon in just under three weeks.
Guckian told RTÉ Sport : "We're relieved. It was a very difficult game. Thankfully the lads worked very hard and showed the character in them to grind out a result in a very difficult game.
"I would hope it will galvanise us. We've had very difficult challenges with Roscommon so hopefully this will help us prepare."
