Diarmuid Connolly returned to GAA action last night when he lined out for the St Vincent's hurlers against Craobh Chiaráin.

The All-Ireland winner was a second-half substitute in the Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 game at Páirc Uinsionn.

Connolly hasn’t played football for Dublin since been used as a second-half substitute in their league victory over Mayo in Castlebar on February 24.

On Thursday Dublin manager Jim Gavin said "the door will always be open" for Dublin star Connolly to return to the panel.

"Diarmuid, over the last number of weeks, just hasn't been available for club or county activity," he told RTÉ Sport. "We respect that decision and I hope everybody else does as well. We play an amateur sport.

"The door will always be open for Diarmuid and hopefully we see him back playing Gaelic games in the not too distant future."
