Kerry senior football manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice beleives that Maurice Fitzgerald will prove a valuable addition to the Kingdom's backroom team.
Double All-Ireland winner Fitzgerald's appointment was ratified at a meeting of the Kerry County Board on Monday night.
Fitzgerald replaced Diarmuid Murphy, who has stepped down after six years in the position.
Current manager Fitzmaurice is pleased to be able to call on the experience of Fitzgerald and said: "I am delighted to welcome Maurice into the Kerry senior football setup.
"His football knowledge, work-ethic and personality will be a huge asset to us."
Fitzgerald will join trainer/selector Padraig Corcoran and selectors Mikey Sheehy and Liam Hassett as part of the Kingdom's 2017 backroom team.
