Galway GAA have confirmed that Frank Burke will run for the position of GAA President at Annual Congress next year.
Burke has held a variety of high profile positions in Galway and Connacht GAA.
The last Connacht representative to hold the position was the late Joe McDonagh between 1997 to 1999.
Earlier this month the Kerry County Board confirmed that Sean Walsh will be nominated to contest the position, while former Leinster Council chairperson Martin Skelly, from Longford, is also in the running to succeed Aoghán ó Fearghail.
Walsh was elected chair of the Kerry County Board in 1998, holding the position for a decade. He also served as vice chairman of the Munster Council for three years and Munster chairman from 2010 to 2012.
Skelly was put forward by the Longford board at last year's county convention, and so became the first person to throw their hat in the ring.
Longford are one of ten counties that have yet to see a GAA president.
The vote to decide ó Fearghail's successor will take place at the Association's Annual Congress next February.
