Galway’s Michael Lundy has revealed that he is eyeing a return to the inter-county set-up after missing last season with a move to America.

Lundy was back in club action on Sunday as he helped Corofin to their fourth Galway SFC title in a row as they ran out 0-16 to 0-11 winners over Salthill-Knocknacrra and he is now turning his thoughts to next season.

The Corofin forward impressed in that club final, a month after returning from New York and having missed out on a provincial title with Galway this year, is hoping to make up for lost time in 2017.

“Unfortunately for myself I missed out on a Connacht title but I was delighted for the lads,” he told RTÉ Sport’s Brian Carthy. “It was a great year for them and it’s always nice to finish with a bit of silverware.

“You never know, hopefully next year I’ll keep going with Corofin and see what how it goes and maybe push for a place back in the Galway panel next year.

“Hopefully there’s more Connacht titles left in that Galway team,” he added.

Lundy admits that he had considered playing for New York during his time in the US but that he was talked out of it by his club.

“I was in New York for the year and I wasn’t sure what my status would be with coming home and playing.

“There were times when I was thinking about playing for New York early on the in the year and that would have required signing a transfer but luckily enough the club convinced me not to.

“I’m delighted that I didn’t because I got to come home and play with the boys. It’s great to be playing with your friends and your neighbours and I was just delighted to be involved.”
