Patrickswell 1-26 Ballybrown 1-7

Patrickswell are back as kingpins of Limerick club hurling after a 19 point win over neighbours Ballybrown in the Gaelic Grounds.

It was a first title since 2003 for Patrickswell, who have 19 titles in total.

They had 10 different scorers in this final, with man of the match Cian Lynch scoring three points from play.

Beaten in the final last year by eventual All-Ireland champions Na Piarsaigh, Patrickswell raced from the blocks and were 1-6 to 0-2 ahead by the end of the opening quarter.

Their goal came in the 13th minute from Kevin O’Brien, who fired to the net after an assist from Lar Considine.

Patrickswell weren’t dominating possession but Ballybrown couldn’t find target and had a dozen wides by half time.

Lynch opened the scoring and had three points from play by half-time as his side led by eight.

Alan O’Connor, Lee Doolan and Stephen Foster hit points for Ballybrown but Thomas O’Brien and Aaron Gillane had the final scored of the half to ensure a comfortable interval lead.

In the second half Ballybrown only scored once from play - a 51st minute consolation goal from Stephen Foster.

Patrickswell scored nine of the first 10 points in the second half to all but seal the win.

They had Seanie O’Brien, Jack Kelleher and Mark Carmody among the scorers as they led 1-19 to 0-6 entering the final quarter.

Two Alan O’Connor frees was the Ballybrown response.

Patrickswell eased to the finish with long-serving Barry Foley among the final scorers for the men in blue and gold.
