Kevin McStay has been ratified as Roscommon manager for two more years, bringing to an end weeks of speculation about his future in the role.
At a meeting on Tuesday night it was decided to give the former Mayo forward another two seasons in charge with the option of a third after that.
McStay, who lives in Roscommon town, was joint-manager this year alongside Roscommon legend Fergal O'Donnell.
But when O'Donnell stepped down from the job in September alongside selectors David Casey and Stephen Bohan doubt was thrown over McStay's role.
Nigel Dineen was nominated to take over in 2017, though he recently withdrew his name from the running citing 'strong reservations about the integrity' of the appointment process.
This left McStay, who led Roscommon club St Brigid's to the 2013 All-Ireland club title, as the only candidate for the job. However, given the twists and turns in this tale it was never taken for granted that the clubs would rubberstamp his appointment.
It is understood that McStay will bring former Mayo and Clare selector Liam McHale into his backroom team.
Roscommon retained their Division 1 status in the League this year, which was a major achievement given the competition in the top flight, though they endured a disappointing Championship campaign which ended with qualifier elimination by Clare.
