Plan in place as Tyrone final is postponed

The Donnelly Vauxhall Tyrone SFC final replay between Killyclogher and Coalisland has been re-fixed for Friday evening at Healy Park, following today’s postponement due to a waterlogged pitch.

And a Plan B has been put in place should the Omagh venue remain unplayable by the end of the week.

In that event, the game will be further postponed until Saturday afternoon, with Pairc Colmcille in Carrickmore on standby to stage the O’Neill Cup decider.

Tyrone PRO Eunan Lindsay revealed that every effort was made to render the surface playable following heavy rainfall overnight, but renewed showers made the postponement inevitable.

“It’s all about the interests of player welfare,” he said.

“There was a lot of rain overnight, and more in the morning and early afternoon.

“To be fair to Omagh St Enda’s, they had men working on the pitch, with manpower and pumps, trying to clear the water, but it became obvious that it wasn’t going to work.”

Coalisland and Killyclogher played out a thrilling 1-13 to 0-16 draw last Sunday at Omagh.

The replay will have to be completed next weekend, as the winners are due to face Antrim champions Cargin in the Ulster Club Championship on 30 October.
