Bernard Brogan has moved to quash rumours that he is to step away from the Dublin team in the wake of their latest All-Ireland success.

There had been some speculation that Brogan, who was dropped for the Dubs replay win over Mayo, would call it a day after winning his fourth All-Ireland title.

The St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh man came off the bench to kick a crucial point in the decider and in a statement on the Dublin GAA website, he said: “I’ll play until I feel I’ve nothing extra to add and there’s others who can add more.

"I still think I have something to add to the team. So no, I’m hanging around. I'm not going anywhere, unless Jim (Gavin) has other ideas.

"You have to do your bit for the team. And if that means sitting aside for a while and give 20 minutes, that's what you have to do," the 32-year-old added.

"I'm mature enough to accept that. And to be delighted to be on the winning side."
