Mayo manager Stephen Rochford is sweating on the fitness of forward Alan Dillon for Saturday week's All-Ireland final replay with Dublin (throw-in 5pm).

Dillon limped out of action just 11 minutes after his introduction off the bench in the 2-09 to 0-15 draw, kicking a crucial score in his brief cameo.

Rochford revealed both Cillian O'Connor and Evan Regan also picked up knocks but only Dillon is in danger of missing out on the rematch.

"Alan Dillon we’re a little bit unsure about at the moment," Rochford told RTÉ Sport.

"He has no structural bone damage  to the foot, just a bit of deep bruising. We’ll probably have to wait until the earlier part of next week before we know where Alan is at.

"Evan Regan picked up a facial or a head injury on Sunday in the last phase of play. He’ll just follow the typical concussion protocols.

Croke Park, by the pace of the field and that, it always means the bodies are a little bit sore or tired

"He should be available for selection Saturday week. Cillian O’Connor likewise; he just has a little ankle injury. He’ll sit out training [on Wednesday] but he should be available to rain by the weekend.

"Cillian and Evan will be available for selection. We’re hopeful on Alan; we’ll just have to wait and see."

In a bruising encounter defined by spills, thrills and own goals, it was inevitable both teams would need time to lick their wounds.

Rochford said a number of factors contributed to an enormously energy-sapping contest, and expects his troops to require an extra few days to fully recover.

"Croke Park, by the pace of the field and that, it always means the bodies are a little bit sore or tired," he added.

"Add in that it’s an All-Ireland final, the conditions were that little bit tougher and you’re coming up against a very physical and well conditioned team in Dublin. Guys will take an extra couple of days to be able to rest and recover."
