Kevin McStay will have to reapply for the role of Roscommon senior football team manager following the resignation of fellow joint-manager Fergal O'Donnell on Wednesday.

Both O’Donnell and McStay have been working together in the role but now the county board have decided to hold an open competition for the position.

O’Donnell had committed to a three-year term with the county but revealed yesterday claimed that a "concerted effort had been made (outside of management and players) to undermine and disparage us", and duly resigned along with his two selectors

A statement released on Wednesday evening by the Roscommon County Board said: “Following on from the resignation of Fergal O Donnell from the position of joint manager of the Roscommon Senior Football team the Roscommon GAA County Management Committee has agreed to open the position of County Team Manager to an open competition."
