The venue is due to re-open in June 2017 with a capacity of 45,000 after a redevelopment programme expected to cost nearly €80m.

The Irish Examiner reports that an insurance company is the frontrunner to secure the naming rights.

Stadium sponsorship has become a growing trend, particularly in GAA, such as can be seen with Mayo's Elverys MacHale Park in Castlebar, Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow, Kingspan Breffni Park in Cavan and Westmeath's TEG Cusack Park in Mullingar.

Elsewhere, Laya Healthcare recently secured the naming rights to the RDS venue in Dublin, home to Leinster Rugby, with a ten-year deal costing €8m.

The most prominent deal was struck when Aviva signed a ten-year deal for the naming rights to the redeveloped Lansdowne Road in 2009, for a figure understood to have been in the region of €45m.
