GAA Digest: Dublin unchanged for Meath clash

Paul Flynn hasn't been able to force his way back into the Dubs' team this weekend.

The Dublin side to face Meath in Sunday’s Leinster Senior Football Championship quarter-final shows no changes from the team that started against Laois the last day.

Paul Flynn was named to start that game at Nowlan Park earlier this month, but pulled out during the warm-up due to a hamstring strain and he hasn’t managed to force his way back into the side.

Dean Rock and Diarmuid Connolly did the damage against Laois, scoring 2-14 between them, 2-8 from play, and they will lead the line again.

Dublin (SFC v Meath): Stephen Cluxton; Philly McMahon, Jonny Cooper, David Byrne; James McCarthy, Cian O’Sullivan, John Small; Brian Fenton, Michael Darragh Macauley; Dean Rock, Kevin MCManamon, Ciarán Kilkenny; Paul Mannion, Diarmuid Connolly, Bernard Brogan.

With Donegal full-back Neil McGee (above, left) suspended for Sunday’s Ulster SFC semi-final with Monaghan, Under-21 Ciaran Gillespie and been handed the number three jersey.

McGee picked up a two-match ban for his red card – his second of the inter-county season – in the quarter-final win over Fermanagh.

The other change made by manager Rory Gallagher sees 2012 Footballer of the Year Karl Lacey return to the starting team at wing-back, with Hugh McFadden losing out in a positional shake-up.

Donegal (SFC v Monaghan): Mark Anthony McGinley; Paddy McGrath, Ciaran Gillespie, Eamon McGee; Ryan McHugh, Frank McGlynn, Karl Lacey; Rory Kavanagh; Odhran MacNiallais; Anthony Thompson, Martin McElhinney, Eoin McHugh; Patrick McBrearty, Michael Murphy, Martin O’Reilly.

Wexford will be without a number of regulars for Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC Qualifier Round 1B clash with Fermanagh at Innovate Wexford Park.

Star forward Ciaran Lyng (above) is the latest to be ruled out and he will join the likes of Michael Furlong, Tiernan Rossiter and Michael O'Regan in the treatment room.

Wexford (SFC v Fermanagh): Anthony Masterson; Jim Rossiter, Naomhan Rossiter, Joey Wadding; Brian Malone, Syl Byrne, Simon Donohoe; Colm Kehoe, Daithi Waters; Kevin O’Grady, Adrian Flynn, Eoghan Nolan; Donal Shanley, Ben Brosnan, John Tubritt.

Unsurprisingly Eamonn Burns has undertaken a major overhaul of his Down team ahead of their All-Ireland SFC Qualifier Round 1B meeting with Longford in Newry.

The Mourne County’s last outing ended in a record 19-point Ulster quarter-final defeat to Monaghan so changes were to be expected.

Donal O’Hare (above) and Stephen Kane are amongst those to come into the side, with Marc Reid taking over in goals from Stephen Kane, who recently got married.

Down (SFC v Longford): Marc Reid; Conaill McGovern, Gerard McGovern, Darren O'Hagan; David McKibbin, Aidan Carr, Darragh O'Hanlon; Peter Turley, Kevin McKernan; Ryan Mallon, Mark Poland, Joe Murphy; Conor Maginn, Donal O'Hare, Barry O'Hagan.
