Mark Ellis will fill in for sidelined Cork captain Stephen McDonnell at full-back when the Rebels take on Tipperary in the quarter-finals of the Munster SHC in Thurles on Sunday.
Ellis missed much of the league campaign with injury problems of his own but has been deemed fit to take his chance.
William Egan will line up in a Cork midfield for a first championship start since 2013 as he partners Daniel Kearney.
