The passage of time inevitably brings with it change. Bob Dylan, with his The Times They Are a Changin', put his own musical slant on things.
RTÉ pundit Michael Duignan, in looking ahead to Sunday's Allianz League Division 1 hurling final between Clare and Waterford, views the encounter as "an advertisement for the modern game".
It's not an advert that the two-time All-Ireland winner finds appealing, but ultimately he accepts that is the way hurling is going.
In elucidating his point, Duignan said: "Much interest will be on the tactical battle between Clare and Waterford.
"Both teams set up with a sweeper. There'll be a lot of men behind the ball and a lot of tussles in the middle of the field. This is really an advertisement for the modern game."
When asked whether it was a good advertisement, the Offaly man added: "I'm a traditionalist and I'm not mad about the way it's going at the moment. It's a hard time being a forward in the modern game - great forwards having two or three on them all the time.
"If both teams can score from distance, which they can, then it will look fine. I prefer the old game where you left room for the full-forward line. Too many men behind the ball makes it difficult for the good forwards in the game.
"That's the way the game is at the moment."
As to who'll will take home the top-tier spoils on Sunday evening, Duignan is going for the Déise to retain their title.
"On the night of the league semi-final, I went for Clare. They were so impressive against Kilkenny, scoring 4-22. I thought that game was at a higher level than the Waterford-Limerick semi.
"Clare are missing a few players - David McInerney, John Conlan. Waterford have been so consistent over the last couple of years and I think they'll get over the line."
