Podge Collins gets green light for Clare footballers from hurling boss Davy Fitzgerald

Dual player Podge Collins will be available to line out for the Clare footballers in Croke Park on Saturday.

The Banner County take on Kildare in the Allianz League Division 3 final at 6pm.

Collins featured for the hurlers in last Sunday's semi-final win over Kilkenny and following discussions, hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald has agreed to allow him to play.

Meanwhile, football manager Colm Collins, father of Podge, is happy with how his team are coming along.

“It is very important; if you want to improve you’ve got to be playing football at as high a level as you can,” Collins told RTÉ Sport.

“It’s not going to go from being poor one minute to being brilliant the next so you’ve got to improve incrementally.

“That was our aim at the start and it’s great now that we’ve moving up quietly and we’re in Division 2 for the coming year.”
