On Sunday, as the GAA marks 100 years to the day since the start of the 1916 Rising, Dublin and Kerry come face-to-face again at Croke Park seeking to land the Allianz Football League Division 1 title.
The Dubs are bidding are a fourth consecutive top-tier success, while it's 2009 since the Kingdom reigned supreme in the spring campaign. A crowd of over 50,000 is expected at GAA HQ to witness the third league final between the counties, alongside the Division 2 decider involving Cavan and Tyrone and the 'Laochra' theatrical production that will mark the events of Easter week 1916.
So what can we expect from the latest Dublin v Kerry instalment?
Some are predicting that Jim Gavin's all-conquering Dubs can go through the year unbeaten. So far, they have won eight games, the majority of which they have come through comfortably, though Cork, Monaghan and Roscommon did push them hard.
For Dublin midfielder, Denis Bastick, the desire the maintain the winning thread is what drives the side on in the pursuit of more silverware.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport at Croke Park ahead of next weekend's showdown, the midfielder said: "There is great character within the group, they want to win more and don't want to rest on their laurels. People are greedy when it comes to results and winning. The competition for places is fierce and that keeps everybody hungry."
As for facing Kerry yet again in a final, the Templeogue Synge Street man feels that Sunday's opponents have evolved from the outfits they faced in last year's All-Ireland final and the league encounter at the end of January.
"It's a great challenge for us. You want to play against the top teams in the country and Kerry are one of them. The game gives us a chance to see where we really are.
"Kerry are employing new tactics and they are now a lot more assured in defence. It will be tough for us to break them down. At the other end of the pitch, everybody knows how good they are and we saw that the last day (against Roscommon) when they scored three early goals."
After losing their first two games against Dublin and Roscommon, Kerry have gone on an unbeaten run and by all accounts are in good shape as they seek a first win over Dubs at Croker since 2012.
"This year, after the first two results, fellas really knuckled down and to that end it's great to be back in a league final and playing in Croke Park," were the words of Kingdom marksman Bryan Sheehan as he looked ahead to facing the title holders.
And while Sheehan was happy to lessen the hype that surrounds Dublin v Kerry finals, there is a determination there to end the recent losing sequence against Jim Gavin's side.
"What's done is done. The All-Ireland of 2015 was last year. Yet, Kerry folk don't like losing many games, especially to the Dubs, given the history between the sides.
"A win will give us momentum and set us up nicely for the championship."
The five-time All-Ireland winner also believes the league has been good in bringing on players within the Kerry set-up that can rival the depth of talent that Dublin currently have at their disposal.
"Everyone knows the strength and depth that Dublin have. They can afford to lose one or two key players in games and still have able replacements. That doesn't seem to lessen their team.
"We have been strengthening our panel. During the league both teams have used about 35 players. You need players to come in and have an effect on the game and so far our subs have been fantastic."
