Kildare suffered their first defeat while there were wins for Sligo, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League.

Sligo finished strongly to claim a slender 2-15 to 2-14 win over Kildare at St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge.

Kildare led by 2-10 to 1-11 entering the final quarter, but were under pressure following the dismissal of Adam Tyrrell in the 54th minute after two yellow cards.

The sides were tied at 0-07 apiece at half-time, with a cracking start to the second half produced.

The scoreboard read 1-08 each early after the restart, with Kyle Cawley netting for Sligo, before a minute later Paudie O'Neill equalised for the Lilywhites.

A 46th minute Eamon Callaghan goal pushed Kildare 2-09 to 1-09 in front, but Sligo worked hard, with Kevin Callaghan netting a killer goal in the 68th minute to hand Sligo a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Longford impressed to register a 1-17 to 1-11 win over Tipperary at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

The hosts led by 0-10 to 0-07 at half-time, with James McGivney and Brian Kavanagh in strong scoring form.

Tipperary bounced back with a goal from Jason Lonergan three minutes after the restart.

The visitors took the lead but Longford bounced back following a black card for Tipperary’s Conor Sweeney.

Kavanagh’s eighth pointed free levelled the tie, before a Larry Moran injury-time goal ensured a six-point win.

Offaly worked hard to claim a 0-15 to 1-11 win over Clare in O’Connor Park, Tullamore.

A Michael Brazil point in the fifth minute of injury-time ensured victory for the hosts.

The sides were level on two occasions in the opening 16 minutes, until Offaly moved 0-08 to 0-05 at the break.

David Tubridy cut the gap to two points with nine minutes remaining, but Offaly moved 0-14 to 0-11 ahead.

However, Eoin Cleary netted a goal for Clare, following two brilliant saves from Alan Mulhall, but there was time for Brazil’s winner.

On Saturday, Westmeath were hugely impressive, claiming a 3-14 to 0-07 win over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

A James Dolan goal brace in a three-minute spell in the first half provided the foundations for this victory, with Westmeath failing to trail this contest.

The Lake County led by 3-07 to 0-05 at half-time, with John Heslin (1-4) netting their other goal in front of 1,902 spectators.

Ian Ryan worked hard for Limerick, but Westmeath were a different class with Callum McCormack registering five points from play during the game.
