Fermanagh 1-17 Laois 0-10

Tomas Corrigan hit 1-11 Brewster Park, including 1-08 in the first half, as Fermanagh eased to a 1-17 to 0-10 win over Offaly to ease their Allianz Football League Division 2 relegation worries.

Visitors Laois were second best throughout. Donie Kingston's personal haul of 0-06 (4f) was scant consolation after a poor display which leaves them in the drop zone.

In the absence of the suspended Sean Quigley, Corrigan took over the free-taking duties and excelled, nailing seven frees from nine attempts and scoring a 12th-minute goal which gave Pete McGrath's side a handy cushion which they never relinquished.

Fermanagh's superior movement and support play was a step above Laois.

Donie Kingston opened the scoring with a third-minute free but from there Fermanagh completely took over, with Tomas Corrigan the star of the show.

The forward hit 1-05 in a 16-minute spell, showing good composure to solo and blast the ball high into the net after 12 minutes.

Paul Kingston, a late inclusion in the starting team, scored two points inside 60 seconds to bring Laois to within two points but Fermanagh, or specifically Corrigan, bossed the game.

His confidence pumped after a bright start, he scored a superb right-footed point from near the sideline and also chipped one over with his left foot after an unselfish pass by his brother Ruairi.

He also took over the free-taking duties in the absence of the suspended Sean Quigley and converted five out of six attempts.

Donie Kingston's second free of the half ended a 15-minute scoring drought for Laois, who trailed 1-07 to 0-04, but Fermanagh reeled off three in a row before the break, Corrigan (two frees) and Barry Mulrone's point to lead 1-10 to 0-04 at the interval.

With the game already over as a contest, the second half was lethargic and played with no intensity.

Fermanagh opened up with four points on the bounce, Corrigan, Aidan Breen, Barry Mulrone and Ryan Jones all on target before a Kingston free got Laois on the board.

Laois manager Mick Lillis was sent to the stand early in the second half by referee Marty Duffy, but it mattered little with Fermanagh powering to victory.

They led 1-17 to 0-06 with eight minutes to go and took their foot off the gas, allowing Laois a mini-reprieve and they kicked the last four points to at least get to double figures.
