Pat Spillane and Darragh Joyce were among the 20 young players put through their paces on the second day of the AFL Draft Combine at DCU on Saturday.

The son of the Kerry legend of the same name and the 2014 All-Ireland minor winning captain were both watched by Tadhg Kennelly, the AFL's international talent co-ordinator.

The combine is back in Dublin, as Aussie Rules clubs look to sign up talented Irish youngsters that they think can make it Down Under.

AFL clubs have increasingly started to look outside of Australia in their recruitment, running the rule over players from America, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and Croatia as well as Ireland.

Tipperary footballer Colin O'Riordan signed for Sydney Swans earlier this year, the same club that Kennelly played with either side of winning the 2009 All-Ireland title with the Kingdom.

Kennelly remains the only Irish-born player to win a Premiership title in Australia.

Plenty of others have gone over, to varying degrees of success, including former Cork hurler Setanta Ó hAilpín, Down's Martin Clarke and Zach Tuohy of Laois.

Kilkenny isn't a football county, but Joyce, pictured above, could become their first AFL export.
