VIDEO - GAA's Páraic Duffy: International Rules may go Stateside

GAA director general Páraic Duffy has confirmed that the International Rules series will continue and raised the possibility of playing a Test in the US.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Ireland v Australia clash, the 19th series since the compromised rules game began in 1984, the Association met with the AFL in Croke Park and agreed to renew the event and possibly expand the current one-game format.

Duffy told RTÉ Sport: "We’re looking at the possibility of playing a game in the United States, possibly in New York.

"The commitment on both sides is set to continue and we’ll look at all possibilities, including reverting to a two-game series."

Australia coach Alastair Clarkson and Australia’s consul-general in New York have already spoken about having a game on the east coast of America.

"We'd love to do that, in actual fact we had plans to try and do it for this year, it didn't come off for this year. We want to invest in this part of the world,” said Clarkson.

Ireland v Australia is live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player from 7pm, with radio commentary on RTÉ Radio 1 and  a live blog on RTE.ie.
