Corkery Player of Year as Staunton bags 10th All-Star award

Briege Corkery earned her ninth TG4 All Star Award and collected her second Player’s Player of the Year award on a night when the legendary Cora Staunton equalled Mary Jo Curran's record of 10 All Star Awards.

All-Ireland champions Cork were the big winners with six representatives on the All-Stars selection.

Nineteen-year-old Marie Ambrose earned her first award along with multi-award winners Geraldine O’Flynn, Vera Foley, Rena Buckley and Valerie Mulcahy.

Corkery became the first player to win the Player of the Year award for the second time, and joined her midfield team-mate Rena Buckley on both the Ladies' Football and Camogie All Star teams.

Beaten All-Ireland finalists Dublin were also well represented with four award winners, including Sinead Finnegan and four-time All Star Sinead Goldrick in the half-back line.

Carla Rowe earned her first All-Star at wing forward and Jackies captain Lyndsey Davey claimed her third at full forward.

Monaghan picked up two awards as Linda Martin won her first award as the goalkeeper in the selection and was joined by Donaghmoyne team-mate Cora Courtney, who collected her third All Star at wing forward.

Mayo legend Staunton was Mayo’s sole representative, with her incredible tenth award moving her level with Kerry great Curran.

Munster champions Kerry are represented by full-back Aislinn Desmond and Armagh’s young star Aimee Mackin rounds out the selection as corner forward.
