Mayo look set to be without the services of star forward Cillian O'Connor for the upcoming Allianz Football League campaign.
The Mayo News are reporting that the Ballintubber clubman underwent knee surgery on Monday last and has been advised not to return for between five and six months.
Such an absence would rule him out of Mayo's Division 1 campaign which starts with a game away to Cork on 31 January, followed by a home clash with Dublin six days later.
O'Connor finished top scorer in the 2015 football championship, amassing a tally of 3-24.
