Edenderry 0-11 Rathnew 0-12

Wicklow champions Rathnew edged into the quarter finals of the Leinster club football championship at Tullamore this afternoon when they came from five points down to beat Edenderry by 0-12 to 0-11 in a spiky encounter.

Anything other than a home win for the Offaly club looked all but impossible after Edenderry dominated the first half to lead by 0-9 to 0-5, but Rathnew increased their intensity after the restart and gradually wore down their opponents, securing the win at the death thanks to a close-range free from Jody Merrigan.
