Glencar/Manorhamilton 1-9 Mohill 0-12
By Philip Rooney
A dramatic finish to the Leitrim Senior County Championship saw Glencar/Manorhamilton come from behind with a late Conor Dolan free, deep in injury-time, to level matters and ensure the sides will have to meet again after the first drawn final since 1996.
After a bright start for the Glencar/Manorhamilton men that saw them score the first two points of the game, Mohill responded well and scored five unanswered points to put them in control of the game.
The opening half proved to be a cagey affair, with Mohill appearing to be in control, before Darren Sweeney pounced on a loose pass to release Adrian Croal, who ran through on goal before firing his shot past Mohill goalkeeper Dermot Scollan.
However, with 10 minutes of the half remaining Glencar/Manorhamilton struck for their crucial goal and Croal added to his personal tally before the interval with a wonderful point from distance that helped give his side a narrow 1-4 to 0-6 lead at the break.
Glencar/Manorhamilton started the second half brightly and a Ronan Flynn point helped extend their lead within three minutes of the restart.
In a game in which the momentum shifted several times, Mohill then took control of the contest. Man of the match Darren McLoughlin was immense in midfield and the Mohill men scored six unanswered points to race into a four point lead with eight minutes remaining.
It looked as though the Fenagh Cup would be returning to Mohill for the first time since 2006, but Glencar/Manorhamilton showed tremendous resilience to keep battling and three unanswered points meant there was just a point between the sides as the game entered injury time.
Deep into injury time, Croal was fouled and Dolan showed nerves of steel to convert the free, ensuring the sides will have to meet again on a date yet to be decided.
