Mickey Harte will extend his time in charge of the Tyrone footballers to 15 seasons after agreeing a two-year extension until 2017.

Harte took over as manager in late 2002 before leading the county to their first ever Sam Maguire in his first season in the hot seat in 2003.

The Red Hands went on to win further All-Ireland titles in 2005 and 2008 and have also won four Ulster crowns and a National League under the Errigal Ciaran man.

Tyrone exited this year's All-Ireland SFC at the semi-final stage to reigning champions Kerry.

A statement from Tyrone GAA said: "Following a meeting of of the County Committee tonight, Coiste Contae Thir Eoghain wish to confirm that Mickey Harte will continue to manage the Tyrone Senior Football team for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

"Also confirmed at tonight's meeting was that Feargal Logan will continue as manager of the Under 21 Football team along with Peter Canavan & Brian Dooher, also for the 2016 and 2017 campaigns. "
