The Down county board are on the hunt for a new senior football manager after Jim McCorry informed them that he would be stepping down with immediate effect.
Under McCorry, Down enjoyed a successful league campaign and were promoted to Division 1 but they disappointed in the championship.
The Mournemen lost to Derry by a point in the Ulster quarter-final before crashing out of the qualifiers with a surprise defeat to Division 4 side Wexford.
In a statement, the Down county board revealed that they had held talks with McCorry on Monday and were fully behind him staying on for another season but the decision to leave was down to him.
The statement read: "Members of the Down Executive Committee had met with Jim on Monday to reassure him that he had 100% support from both the Committee and the clubs in Down, and that Down GAA would not be found wanting in their support for Jim and the senior squad in 2016 and beyond."
"The Down board would like to place on record our thanks to Jim and his back room team for their efforts and commitment shown to the footballers and their endeavours in taking the county from Division 2 back to Division 1 for next season."
