Ireland's top handballers dominated the opening round at the World Handball Championships in Calgary in Canada, with no early casualties.
Four-time champion, Cavan's Paul Brady, and Irish team captain Westmeath's Robbie McCarthy, opened their accounts in impressive style.
Brady looked at half-pace en route to a comfortable 21-6, 21-3 win over Minneapolis' Ryan Pesch.
McCarthy showed his ruthless streak when putting on an exhibition of serving to defeat Canadian Jason John's 21-0, 21-2.
The talking point of the day was the dominance of Irish players in the opening round.
However, the top three American names in the draw, Sean Lenning, Emmet Peixoto and Luis Moreno, all looked impressive and will provide a major threat to any Irish challenge.
Moreno, the number two seed, lost to Brady in the 2012 final and is one of the few players to take a victory over the Cavan man during his career.
The last 16 games provide some exciting match-ups, most notably a meeting of two of the young rising stars in the game, Galway's Martin Mulkerrins and Cork's Killian Carroll.
The two have provided some phenomenal battles in recent times and with a quarter-final spot at stake, this encounter should prove heated.
