Peter Creedon stepped down as Tipperary senior football team manager following this afternoon's 12-point defeat against Tyrone. 

The Premier County supremo confirmed that he is calling time on a tenure that dates back to 2012. 

Creedon replaced John Evans for the 2012 championship, after Evans quit following the conclusion of the Allianz League campaign, and guided Tipp to the last 12 of the All-Ireland series in that summer. 

Creedon later tweeted his thanks to "everyone who worked with us over the last four years".

Tipp also enjoyed a good qualifier run last year, again reaching the last 12. 

But defeat against the Red Hands at Semple Stadium this afternoon signals the end of the Cork native's spell in charge.
