Fennelly: First half goals disheartened Wexford

Kilkenny midfielder Miichael Fennelly felt the three goals scored in the opening half were crucial in propelling the Cats to victory over Wexford in the Leinster SHC semi-final at Nowlan Park.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the 5-25 to 0-16 victory, the Ballyhale clubman said: "The first half was tough going, particularly in the first ten to 15 minutes. But then we got three goals before half-time and when they go in that can dishearten teams.

After the game. Sunday Game analyst Donal O'Grady's described Fennelly's performance against Wexford as "immense" and felt "he did a savage amount of work up and down the field."

As for the player himself, he was happy to be on the winning side and is now looking forward to a date with Galway in the Leinster final on 5 July.

“Training has gone well in the last couple of weeks. We're all delighted to get the win but we have more to build on with the Leinster final to come in two weeks' time."
