Limerick hurler Seanie Tobin will miss his county's Munster SHC semi-final with Tipperary on Sunday week after failing to have a red card overturned by the GAA's Central Appeals Committee.
The Murroe-Boher man was sent off seconds after coming on as a sub during the Treaty County's win over Clare for a clash with Banner defender Patrick O'Connor.
Tobin tweeted his shock after the Central Hearings Committee upheld the charge of striking or attempting to strike with the hurley and, despite an almost two-hour hearing on Wednesday night, the CAC dismissed his appeal, meaning a one-game suspension will be served.
Limerick and Tobin have the option of taking the case further to the Disputes Resolution Authority but are not expected to do so.

Noel McGrath returned to some light training with Tipperary on Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old two-time All-Star is not expected to feature against Limerick on 21 June, as he continues his recovery from April surgery for testicular cancer, but could play a part later in the championship.
Meanwhile, former Tipperary All-Ireland winner Fr Ray Reidy has passed away after a brief illness.
Reidy was born in 1937 in Thurles and captained the Tipp minor team in 1955 when they won the All-Ireland title.
He played on Tipperary senior hurling teams from 1956 to 1960 and won an All-Ireland senior medal with the team of '58.
The death has also been announced of the former Leitrim footballer Michael Martin.
From the Sean O'Heslin's club, Martin won six county medals in the period from 1967 to 1975 and featured on the Leitrim team that played against Mayo in the 1967 Connacht final.
