Tipperary footballers have been handed a fitness boost ahead of Sunday week’s Munster Championship clash with All-Ireland champions Kerry.
Colin O’Riordan picked up a hip injury in Sunday’s facile victory over Waterford at Semple Stadium, however, the 19-year-old has been assessed by the team doctor and should be fit to face Kerry as long as he responds to treatment over the coming days.
Speaking in today’s Irish Examiner, Tipperary manager Peter Creedon said: “He may be sent for a second opinion but if he responds to treatment in the next couple of days, there’s no reason why he won’t play against Kerry.
“I was talking to (team doctor) Dr Hynes and he wants to get a second opinion on it. But the initial scans looked positive and assuming he responds to physio, Colin should be OK.”
The JK Brackens clubman is proving to be a key player in the current Tipperary squad and his fitness is seen as key with the Premier looking to beat Kerry in the Munster championship for the first time since 1928.
