Dublin hurling manager Ger Cunningham admitted to “mixed emotions” after his side were pegged back at the death in yesterday’s draw with Galway in their Leinster SHC quarter-final at Croke Park.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the game, Cunningham said:“There’s kind of mixed emotions really. Some games you are happy to get a draw because you might have been struggling to win the game.

"While in other games you are ahead and feel you should’ve won [rather than draw].

“So feelings are a bit mixed. We started poorly, we were chasing the game but we put ourselves in a position to win the game and maybe we had to chances to get that third point ahead which might have made a difference.

“But we’re still there and live to fight another day.”

Galway will be happiest to escape with the replay as Dublin were three ahead with 16 minutes to go and still led with time almost up.

Aidan Harte’s late point for Galway made it 1-17 to Dublin’s 0-20, levelling matters and meaning the two sides will now meet again on Saturday evening in O’Connor Park, Tullamore, with a semi-final place against Laois or Offaly up for grabs.

Galway manager Anthony Cunningham felt that parity was the right outcome, saying that the draw "was a fair result".
