Kieran Donaghy has issued a clarification about his career plans in response to reports that he had become the latest Gaelic games star to leave his job to focus on playing.
An Irish Independent article claimed that Donaghy will leave his position with Ulster Bank this week to focus on football and family life.
A severance package has reportedly been agreed with the bank. Donaghy and his wife Hilary are also expecting a child in the coming months.
This evening Donaghy confirmed that he had left the position, but said he was "already looking at new opportunities in employment".
"It's the right time and the start of a new journey for me," Donaghy tweeted.
Fellow Kerry player Darran O’Sullivan vacated his position with the bank earlier in the year.
O'Sullivan said at the time: "I left Ulster Bank to concentrate on keeping the body right.
"It just wasn't suiting me."
He attempted to clarify the remarks afterwards by tweeting: "I left the bank to work as an athlete mentor, as it was a job I wanted to do and it would give me a more flexible timetable that would allow me to rehab my injury properly."
